Drugs and cash seized, four charged in Liverpool
Two men were charged in court on Tuesday after a firearm, illegal drugs and cash were allegedly seized during a vehicle stop in Liverpool on Monday.
Around. At 6.30am on December 6, officers from the Liverpool City Police Area Command stopped a taxi on Campbell Street as part of proactive operations.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle – a silver Toyota Tarago – officers allegedly seized a loaded pistol located under the rear passenger seat, approximately 125 ml of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), 5.3 grams of heroin and more than $ 9,000 in cash.
Police arrested both passengers in the taxi – two men aged 51 and 30 – who were taken to Liverpool police station and charged with a number of offenses, including possession of an unregistered firearm.
Following inquiries, a search warrant was conducted at a home in George Street, Liverpool, just after 7.30pm on Tuesday.
During the search, police allegedly seized a total weight of 1,962 kg of methylamphetamine, 1.05 grams of hashish, three x suboxone films and two liters of gamma-hydroxybutyrate.
A 54-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were arrested and taken to Liverpool police station.
The man was charged with a number of offenses, including two counts of possession of a prohibited substance.
The woman was charged with being found at a drug parlor.
The man was denied bail and will appear in Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 8 December.
The woman has received a conditional bail and will appear before Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 12 January.
