Woman dead in house fire after setting ex-partner and new girlfriend alight

Police say a house fire at a south-east Queensland home this morning was an act of domestic violence set intentionally by a resident’s ex-girlfriend.It is believed Sarah Mudge, 31, broke into the Logan home through a bedroom window before dousing her ex-partner, aged care worker Stanley Obi, and his new girlfriend in petrol and setting them alight.”We believe the person who does not live at that residence was somehow able to gain entry and then once in there was able to throw petrol around and that’s how it’s gone,” Superintendent Mark White said.

Sarah Mudge and Stanley Obi had previously been in a relationship.

While Mr Obi, 30, and his girlfriend managed to escape the burning home, Ms Mudge became trapped in a hallway and died before police could reach her.9News understands Ms Mudge had been in a long term relationship with Mr Obi which ended six months ago.
