Police: Juvenile charged after lying about bomb in Danbury High School

DANBURY — A juvenile has been charged with sending threatening emails that caused an early dismissal at Danbury High School last week, police said Friday.

The juvenile, who was not identified, allegedly sent emails to several teachers and students Dec. 3 indicating a bomb was in the high school, police said.

Police determined the emails came from within the high school and were not credible.

The juvenile was charged with 11 counts of second-degree breach of peace, 11 counts of falsely reporting an incident in the first degree and 11 counts of threatening in the first degree, the Danbury Police Department said.

The school received three threats on Dec. 3. The first took place shortly before 8 a.m.

The city’s emergency dispatch center received a report of shots fired at the school. While police investigated, the high school temporarily went into shelter-in-place mode. Police did not find evidence of gunfire, nor injuries.

As the morning continued, there were two other threats to the building, which also turned out to be not credible.
