Michigan police seize 9 guns, bulletproof vest from 3 homes

Detroit Police Department Special Operations officers seized six handguns, two shotguns, a rifle, ammunition and a bulletproof vest after serving search warrants on three homes in Detroit and Warren in early March 2022.

DETROIT – Detroit police seized six handguns, two shotguns, a rifle, ammunition and a bulletproof vest after serving search warrants on three homes, The Associated Press reports.

Special operations officers recovered a 9 mm semiautomatic pistol and a 12-gauge shotgun from an eastside home, Detroit police said Friday. There had been reports of shots fired in the area Wednesday and officers had found empty shell casings.

On Monday, a report of domestic violence led officers to another eastside home, AP reports. Two handguns were seized there along with a bulletproof vest and ammunition. One of the handguns was stolen.

A search stemming from a Feb. 5 incident on Detroit’s east side led to the recovery of three handguns, an assault-type rifle and a shotgun from a house in Warren, just north of the city, AP reports. One person was arrested.
