The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says one of its deputies confiscated drugs and cash during a routine traffic stop in I-75.

On March 21, a deputy and his K9 partner were on stationary patrol on I-75 near Botkins when they saw a a black Chevrolet with an equipment violation heading south on the interstate.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop. When he made contact with the vehicle’s driver, the deputy said there was a strong odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle and he saw paraphernalia.

The driver admitted to possessing a small amount of marijuana, but was reportedly not a Medically Marijuana patient.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and two packaged bags of raw marijuana, weighing around one and half pounds, and six packs of prepackaged edibles were found. They were seized along with cash believed to be from drug trafficking.

The driver was warned for the equipment violation.

The Sheriff’s Office said charges were pending.
