More than 300 kilos of cocaine found between bananas

During a check in the port of Rotterdam, Customs found 336 kilos of cocaine on Tuesday.

The blocks of pressed cocaine were hidden between a load of bananas. The container with the bananas came from Peru and was loaded in Ecuador on a ship bound for Rotterdam.

The bananas were destined for a company in Germany. This company appears to have nothing to do with smuggling, according to the Rotterdam public prosecutor.

The HARC team, a partnership of Customs, FIOD, Seaport Police and the Public Prosecution Service, is further investigating the case. The drugs have since been destroyed.
