$50K of drugs seized in Cochrane, 2 facing trafficking charges


James Bay OPP seized a suspected $50,000 of illicit drugs executing a search warrant in Cochrane.

Two people are facing trafficking charges after $50,000 of a variety of drugs were seized by police.

On March 19 around 3:30 p.m., James Bay OPP officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Genier Road in Cochrane. 

Drugs suspected to be methamphetamine, crack cocaine, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and methyl​enedioxy​methamphetamine (MDMA) with a street value of $50,000 were seized by police. A quantity of Canadian cash was also seized. 

Two people have been charged. 

A 26-year-old from Cochrane is charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with probation

A 22-year-old from Cochrane is charged with: 

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine 
  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine 
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Both of the accused were held in custody for a bail hearing on March 20th in Cochrane.
