Three charged in drug sting and $125K in cocaine seized: Hudson prosecutor


Three North Hudson men have been charged with multiple serious drug offenses and $125,000 in cocaine was seized from a Weehawken home in a month-long sting operation, authorities said.

John Perez, 31, of Weehawken, and Nicolas Mora-Daza, 24, and Christopher Gonzalez, 33 both of Union City were arrested Thursday by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Municipal Task Force and Narcotics Task Force, the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team, Homeland Security Investigations and the Union City Police Department, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

As part of the investigation, an undercover officer purchased drugs on multiple dates. A court-authorized search warrant of a home in Weehawken resulted in the recovery of approximately 2.5 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of $125,000.

Mora-Daza was charged with distribution of cocaine and numerous other drug offenses, while Perez and Gonzalez were charged in possession with intent to distribute and numerous other drug offenses.

Gonzalez and Mora-Daza appeared in court Friday and were released with conditions. Perez is being held in Hudson County jail and is scheduled to appear for a detention hearing Wednesday.

Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Task Force, the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team, Homeland Security Investigations, the Weehawken Police Department, the Union City Police Department and the UCPD K-9 Unit with the investigation and arrests.
