Manhunt ensues for Queensland prison escapee


Mr Roberts was serving a prison sentence for assaulting police.

Police are on the hunt for a Queensland man who escaped a Townsville prison facility yesterday morning and is currently out in the public.The man, Jamie Lee Roberts, had been serving a two years and four-month prison sentence for assaulting a police officer.

Mr Roberts escaped from prison yesterday morning around 7.30 am.

Mr Roberts is described as fair with brown hair and blue eyes.He has a back tattoo of a name in old English script and another tattoo of a rose and a woman’s face that says ‘laugh now cry later’ on his left arm.At the time of escape, he had facial hair that has since been shaved.

It’s believed Mr Roberts is still in Townsville, possibly driving a Toyota Landcruiser. (QPS)
