Man arrested after Revenue seize nearly 8kg worth of Cannabis in North Dublin

A young man was arrested today after Revenue officers seized nearly 8kg of cannabis in Dublin.

An intelligence-led operation brought Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, and the Divisional Drugs Unit to the Artane area in the north of the city, where the €158,000 bust was made.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at Coolock Garda Station for questioning.

This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.

A statement released this evening confirmed: “Today (11/03/2022), as part of an intelligence led operation, Revenue officers seized 7.88 kgs of herbal cannabis in the Artane area of North Dublin. The illegal drugs have an estimated value of approximately €158,000.

“The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Divisional Drugs Unit attached to Coolock Garda Station.

“A man in his 20s was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996 at Coolock Garda Station.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
