Man and woman arrested in investigation into 1.4 tons of cocaine via Antwerp

The police arrested a 53-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman from Beuningen (Gelderland) on Thursday for possible involvement in international drug trafficking. Searches took place in a home and business premises in Beuningen. Data carriers and administration were seized.

The searches took place in response to an investigation into international drug trafficking. On 5 April 2022, a consignment of 1408 kilos of cocaine was seized in the port of Antwerp.

The investigation is being conducted by the subversion team of the Gelderland-South District Criminal Investigation Department (Eastern Netherlands unit) in collaboration with the National Unit.

Both suspects have since been released, according to police. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
