Investigation leads to 8 arrests, guns and drugs seized in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Eight arrests were made Wednesday after investigators conducted an investigation in the 200 block of Whitcomb Street.

The investigation conducted by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Crime Reduction Team and Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team involved them contacting two vehicles associated with the address.

When the vehicles were contacted, investigators found four loaded pistols, two of which were stolen, illegal narcotics, and evidence of selling the narcotics.

A search warrant was given for the home.

The investigation into the vehicles caused eight Kalamazoo residents to be arrested:

  • 15-year-old male: Carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
  • 15-year-old male: Carrying a concealed weapon and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
  • 16-year-old male: Carrying a concealed weapon.
  • 17-year-old male: Valid arrest and detain orders and possession of a stolen firearm.
  • 18-year-old male: Carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a stolen firearm.
  • 21-year-old male: Felon in possession, felony firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute meth, and probation violations.
  • 21-year-old male: Resisting and obstructing, possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, and driving without a license.
  • 33-year-old male: Felon in possession, felony firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Police seized a stolen AR-style rifle, high-capacity magazines, a stolen semi-automatic pistol, illegal narcotics and evidence of manufacturing illegal narcotics from the home.

The suspects were held at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home or the Kalamazoo County Jail.

The investigation is still on-going and additional charges may be given to those contacted.
