Group of suspects of cocaine imports arrested

On Wednesday morning, the Belgian federal judicial police arrested six suspects for importing large amounts of cocaine into the port of Antwerp, according to the Gazet van Antwerpen. At least 16,000 kilos would have been imported by the criminal organization. The case is said to be related to Othman El B, who lives in Dubai. He has not been arrested.

Eleven searches have been carried out in the Antwerp region: in Antwerp, Hoboken, Deurne and Merksem. Several properties belong to the B.A. family. One of the brothers, Mustapha B.A. was arrested during a raid on Groeningerplein in Borgerhout.

The evidence in the investigation comes from police decrypted chat messages from Sky ECC. According to the Antwerp prosecutor’s office, this shows that the brothers B.A. important when removing batches of cocaine from containers in the port.

The research also shows that the organization would use hidden spaces in cars and hidden spaces in apartments. The leader of that group would be Youssef B. A. (35). He is currently on the run. He may be staying in Dubai.

On the basis of Sky reports, the police would suspect that the Antwerp businessman Othman El B. would play an important role behind the scenes. Other (arrested) suspects are Morad A., Mohamed E.B., Yassine B., Mustapha B.A. and Mohamed E.. Jawad A. is also one of the suspects. He owns frituur ‘t Gouden Frietje in Kiel in Antwerp and is already a suspect in another cocaine case.

The group is said to have imported 16.2 tons of cocaine via the port of Antwerp between January 2020 and November 2020.
