SACRAMENTO — Federal prosecutors here have charged two people with selling fentanyl pills disguised as oxycodone, after an undercover investigation that started when authorities linked an online drug market page to a pornography subscription profile belonging to one of the suspects.

Holly Adams and Devlin Hosner were charged last week with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, a federal offense. The criminal complaint, unsealed this week, says that federal task force agents started ordering drugs from the defendants after linking them to a profile that advertised painkiller shipments on the Dark Web site ToRReZ.

According to the complaint, the profile, “igogrraawwr,” was similar to an account Adams started on the pornography subscription site Many Vids. After matching a picture from the site to Adams’ drivers license photo, prosecutors realized that Hosner and Adams had jointly registered automobile insurance from the same address in Palm Desert.

From there, undercover agents set up five undercover purchases with the ToRReZ account between May 2021 and last January, for as much as $1,620 worth of counterfeit oxycodone, according to the complaint. The payments were made in cryptocurrency; authorities allege they later linked Hosner to a Coinbase account that converted $800,000 worth of bitcoin to dollars last year.

On March 29, agents raided a room at the Indian Wells Resort Hotel in Indian Wells, and found 10,000 fentanyl pills inside. They detained four people, including Adams and Hosner, as well as Adams’ dog, Lili, an IRS agent wrote in the complaint.

A petition to unseal the complaint says that Adams and Hosner were re-arrested in Riverside County on April 12. They have not yet had their first appearance before a judge, according to court records.
