Chinese woman arrested at Schiphol with almost four tons of cash in suitcase

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee arrested a Chinese woman and a Dutch man on suspicion of money laundering.

The Chinese turned out to be carrying 390,000 euros in her suitcase during a regular customs check.

The Dutchman wanted to travel to Dubai yesterday and turned out to be carrying two expensive watches with an estimated value of around 200,000 euros and expensive designer clothes.

Based on the statements of both suspects, the suspicion arose that they were guilty of money laundering. The two could not demonstrate how they got the money or goods.

Both suspects are being held for further investigation by a police team of the Marechaussee, which focuses on money laundering and criminal money flows via Schiphol.
