Australian Man Charged for Attempting Import Methamphetamine

An Australian guy was accused with importing kilos of methamphetamine from Canada and was charged.

Law enforcement investigators discovered more than four kilos of methamphetamine disguised inside a painting in a box. The 38-year-old man from Perth, Western Australia, was accused in the Perth Magistrate’s Court.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police informed them of a parcel of narcotics bound for Western Australia. The Australian Federal Police initiated an investigation in early October 2021.

Three vacuum-sealed canisters were concealed within the frame of a picture in the shipment.
A total of 4.1 kilos of a white substance that tested positive for methamphetamine was found in the bags.

The pills were swapped with an inert chemical that resembled methamphetamine when the box landed in Australia, according to AFP investigations.
On October 28, authorities brought the package to the house.
The package was reportedly accepted by the 38-year-old suspect.

After executing a search warrant at the property, the detectives discovered that the package had been opened.
The defendant allegedly hid the methamphetamine in a pillowcase and buried it in a garden, according to the press release.
Other components of the gift, such as the wooden picture frame, were discovered in or near garbage cans.

At the Perth Magistrate’s Court on October 29, the 38-year-old was charged with attempting to possess a marketable quantity of amethamphetamine border-controlled narcotic.
He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 19.
