Antwerp drug trafficker arrested in Dubai


The drug trafficker Omar G. (32) known in Antwerp (and convicted) has been arrested in Dubai.

According to the Gazet van Antwerpen, he was arrested during an investigation by the local police and not at the request of the Belgian authorities.

A number of other Belgians would also have been arrested. In Belgium, Omar G. is suspected of being involved in sixteen drug transports that would have brought about 6 tons of cocaine into the port of Antwerp.

More than 20 suspects have been brought to court, including several people of Albanian descent. The Merksem former kick boxer Omar G. is also known as “Patje Haemers”. G. was sentenced on appeal to five years in prison for drug trafficking in 2019.

He has not been seen in Belgium since then.
