MOORHEAD — Narcotics investigators arrested a 48-year-old man this week after finding $15,000 in illegal drugs during a vehicle search, according to the Moorhead Police Department.

A Moorhead detective working with the Cass County Drug Task Force took Charles Edward Fraction into custody Wednesday, Dec. 8, during a traffic stop on Interstate 94 in Clay County. Fraction lives in the Fargo-Moorhead area but has no permanent address, police said.

At the time of the stop, investigators believed Fraction was traveling back to the metro area after getting a shipment of drugs for distribution, police said.

During the vehicle search, officers found 74 grams of a powder believed to be a cocaine-fentanyl mixture, 4.6 grams of methamphetamine and another unidentified powder, police said. The street value of the drugs was roughly $15,000.

Fraction was booked into the Clay County Jail. He’s been charged with two first-degree controlled substance counts, both felonies.

His bail was set at $75,000 with conditions and $100,000 without conditions. A phone message left for his attorney, Samantha Faye Zimmerman, was not immediately returned Friday.

Fraction also had warrants for his arrest, including second-degree burglary, domestic assault by strangulation, terrorizing, possession of a controlled substance and domestic violence with seriously bodily injury, police said.
